DANCE OF THE FLANEUR, an urban maneuver undertaken for a more visible poetry-public interface. Umbrellas prepared with favorite lines from poems (painted, printed & trailing from ribbons). Volunteers will hand umbrellas to passersby who will carry them, with as much flair as they dare, around the lake. For the next 9 hours, they'll be passed from person to person in a constant parade. The Fisher Poets Gathering in downtown Astoria is scheduled the last weekend of February. Fishing industry-related men and women gather together in this annual event to share their poetry and songs in readings, music venues, workshops and special events.
